Surgical procedures topping the list for 2022 included Liposuction, Breast Augmentation and Abdominoplasty. Neurotoxins, Skin Treatments and Dermal Fillers made up the top procedures in the nonsurgical category.

The top 5 surgical procedures in 2022 were:

  • Breast Augmentation: 255,200

  • Breast Implant Removal/Replacement: 131,758

Top Surgical Procedures for Women

The top 5 surgical procedures for women in 2022 were:

  • Liposuction: 385,413
  • Breast Augmentation: 252,648
  • Abdominoplasty (Tummy Tuck): 202,184
  • Mastopexy (Breast Lift): 136,086
  • Removal/Replacement of Breast Implants: 129,657

Women accounted for 95% of all procedures in 2022.

The top 5 surgical procedures for men in 2022 were:

  • Gynecomastia (Male Breast Reduction): 21,358
  • Liposuction: 19,593
  • Blepharoplasty (Eyelid Surgery): 11,277

Surgical procedures remained 37% above 2019 counts, an increase fueled by large gains in body procedures such as liposuction and abdominoplasty.

The top 5 nonsurgical procedures in 2022 were:

  • Neurotoxins: 3,945,282
  • Skin Treatment (Chemical Peels, Hydrofacials, etc.): 1,047,794
  • Dermal Fillers: 649,176
  • Body Contouring: 400,180
  • Hair Removal: 398,772

Total aesthetic procedures increased 14% in 2022 thanks to a 23% jump in nonsurgical procedures, boosted by large increases in infusions, skin treatments, body contouring, and neurotoxins.

Top Surgical Procedures by Age

The top surgical procedures by age in 2022 were:

  • Age 17-35: Breast Augmentation
  • Age 36-50: Liposuction
  • Age 51-70: Liposuction
  • Age 71-plus: Blepharoplasty

The most popular age group for surgical procedures in 2022 was 51-70 year olds, accounting for 36% of surgical procedures. The 36-50 age group represented 30%, followed by 17-35 year olds with 27%. Patients over 70 represented 8% of surgical procedures.
