It is our goal that every patient leave this practice satisfied not only with the quality of the care provided, but pleased with the environment in which it was rendered. We will always counsel our patients and offer services and/or surgery taking into account, to the best of our ability, the whole person.
Bosshardt & Marzek Plastic Surgery Associates was founded in 1989 by Dr. Richard Bosshardt as the Plastic Surgery Center of Lake County. It was the first full time practice in the specialty of plastic surgery in Lake County, Florida. Dr. Bosshardt was joined in 1993 by Dr. Peter Marzek. One of the major milestones in the history of the practice was the construction of the new office, with it's own surgical suite, in Tavares, on beautiful Lake Junietta. Our private, outpatient surgery facility dedicated to plastic surgery is fully stated licensed and approved by Medicare and most insurers. This level of certification is unmatched and assures patients that they are having their surgery in the safest and best equipped facility possible.
In 2001 the practice name was changed from Plastic Surgery Center of Lake County to Bosshardt & Marzek Plastic Surgery Associates. We remain committed to continued improvement in our services and will always strive for excellence in all aspects of patient care.

Dr. Bosshardt Surgeon Profile
Dr. Bosshardt received his bachelor's degree in science from the University of Miami, magna cum laude, then attended the university's school of medicine and graduated in 1974 in the top third of his class. His surgical training was done at the United States Naval Hospital in Oakland, California. It was briefly interrupted from 1979-80 when he served as medical officer aboard the USS Wabash and was deployed to the Western Pacific with an aircraft carrier task force. He was involved in the rescue of Vietnamese boat people and was part of operations to end the Iranian hostage crisis in 1980. The USS Wabash received several decorations for this deployment, including the Meritorious Unit Commendation.
Dr. Bosshardt completed his surgical training at Oakland and then served as general surgeon at the United States Naval Hospital in Okinawa, Japan. During this time, he obtained his board certification from the American Board of Surgery and applied for a position as a resident training in plastic surgery under world-renowned plastic surgeon, D. Ralph Millard, Jr., M.D., at the University of Miami, Jackson Memorial Medical center in Miami, Florida. He was honorably discharged from the Navy with the rank of Commander.
After completing his plastic surgery training in 1989, Dr. Bosshardt became the first plastic surgeon to practice full time in Lake County. He obtained certification by the American Board of Plastic Surgery in 1991. After starting his practice, Dr. Bosshardt contacted Dr. Bill Riley, founder of Operation Rainbow, an organization out of Houston, Texas, that provides free plastic surgery services to children and adults in developing countries. In January 1990, he flew to the Philippines where he spent two weeks performing surgery on children and even young adults with cleft lips and palates. During the ensuing 12 years, he has done similar missions in Guatemala, Peru, Brazil and Venezuela, and plans to contine mission work in the future.
Dr. Bosshardt performs both cosmetic and reconstructive plastic surgery in his practice, which has grown to two surgeons working out of a modern facility that houses the only state licensed private surgical suite in Central Florida dedicated exclusively to plastic surgery. Dr. Bosshardt has special interests in breast surgery including augmentation, reduction, and reconstruction after cancer surgery, body contouring, and pediatic plastic surgery for congenital deformities. The latter he does mainly on his overseas mission trips.
Dr. Bosshardt is a avid reader and also enjoys writing. For several years, he has written a column, Housecalls, which runs weekly in the Lake edition of the Orlando Sentinal and deals with medical issues.
